BAKE SALE

Today these Grade 5 students from ABC School in Santo Domingo got a real taste of what it is like to live in an orphanage and to see a little of what it is like outside of their worlds.  On May 8, 2009 this class of students held a Bake Sale of brownies and donuts in the honor of Jackie´s Home.  All of the money of which was 5,800.00 Dominican pesos was donated to provide food to the children of Jackie´s Home.

Even though we had approximately 100 donuts left over after the Bake Sale, it was still a huge success.  Not only did the children of Jackie´s Home receive the left over donuts (which I know they were thrilled to eat) they received the donation of funds from the Bake Sale as well as a visit from the Grade 5 children.

On this day of the field trip to the Orphanage the children all brought with them Refreshments, ice and muffins to share and eat with the children. As well each child brought a bag of donations from their home, things that they no longer need.  The early in life that we teach our children to give to those less fortunate the better.  With only a little bit of love and kindness our world can be a much better place.  It only takes a minute to help someone and that minute of your life could change the life of someone elses.

FAMILY VISIT

Thank you to family and friends in Atlanta, Georgia, the children enjoyed a large donation of clothing, baby supplies and food. On this day we had a visit from a whole family that brought 2 large bags of donations with them for our children. The family spent some quality time with the children reading books, playing and just giving hugs and snuggles to our children.  As little as things like this might seem, every little bit counts, every piece of clothing, every can of milk or jar of baby food makes a difference in the lives of these these children.  It is the small things that count.

APRIL 12, 2008

It is the small things that count. Thanks to a wonderful family in Irricana, Alberta the children all have new hats. A large bag containing approximately 100 hats was donated to the children's home by Dale Kajmovicz. When I bought the bag of hats to the children's home the kids went crazy looking through it and trying on all of the different hats.

JANUARY 28, 2008

Thank you to some wonderful people in Saskatchewan, Canada the babies of Jackie’s House now have new playpens to sleep in.  A big thank you to Melanie and Kelly Thompson who recently came to the Dominican Republic for their honeymoon and brought with them two tubs full of baby formula, food and supplies, children’s clothes and hygiene products for the children of Jackie's House.  Along with the supplies came a generous donation of money which allowed me to buy 3 new much needed playpens for the babies at the orphanage. God Bless you for helping others in need.
